'RoboCop' Remake Gets Dignity of Gary Oldman

May 24, 2012

Continuing his relationships with masked, oddly-voiced defenders of violent cities, Gary Oldman has signed on to give MGM's Robocop remake a little more dignity for the posters.

With The Killing Joel Kinnaman playing the bionic policeman himself, Oldman will reportedly play Norton, "who creates Robocop and finds himself torn between the ideals of the machine trying to rediscover its humanity and the callous needs of a corporation." Life was so much easier when he was just doing periodic antivirus updates.

Elite Squad's José Padilha is directing the long-delayed remake, which now has a tentative Summer 2013 release date. Prepare some chicken in advance.
