Bradley Cooper Probably Your Man from U.N.C.L.E.

October 21, 2011

Despite his supposed eagerness to finish his filmmaking career and become "the painter that brought you Ocean's Twelve," Steven Soderbergh is not going to let George Clooney's withdrawal from The Man from U.N.C.L.E. spoil what could have otherwise been a perfectly good remake no one really asked for. The director is still going ahead with the project, and now it looks like Bradley Cooper will be playing Napoleon Solo, U.N.C.L.E.'s ridiculously-named American operative and a part Cooper's people had reportedly been pushing for as an alternative to doing any more surprisingly-successful movies about magic pills. As such, Cooper is likely to accept the offer Soderbergh's put out, but according to Variety, that offer is only reaching him after it first went out to and was rejected by Clooney, Matt Damon, and Johnny Depp, making Man from U.N.C.L.E. a Hollywood afterparty's sad little straggling supermodel whose modesty and low cocaine tolerance send her home with a little-too-excited B-lister. It's cute, really.
