Mel Gibson Doing Jewish Hero Film, Because He Loves Jews So Much

September 9, 2011

What a day of asshole atonement today is shaping up to be. First news that Charlie Sheen is doing a movie about money and fame leading to a fall from grace; now word that anti-semitic repeat offender Mel Gibson is collaborating on a film about a Jewish hero. The untitled project would team Gibson with Joe Eszterhas (screenwriter of Showgirls, Sliver, and other films 12-year-olds stayed up to watch in the hope of seeing nudity) in telling the story of Judah Maccabee, a Jewish warrior who bravely led the revolt against the Seleucid Empire in the second century B.C.--just one more instance of the Jews being responsible for all the wars in the world. Right, Mel? Gibson is also producing under his Icon Productions banner and may direct, unless by then his blood-alcohol level is such that he hates Jews again.

UPDATE: For whatever reason, Jewish leaders are not so hot on this idea.
