Amber Heard the New Red Sonja? Will Arnett the New Michael Scott? And More

February 10, 2011

- According to Youth on Revolt director Miguel Arteta, Michael Cera is spending five hours a day learning Spanish to do a Chilean movie with director Sebastian Silva. And you thought he always played the same character, who spoke English.

- Summit has hired Twilight Saga screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg to write Fast Five director Justin Lin's Highlander remake. I guess because of her experience at writing immortals who have to be killed in very specific ways? Or because they want it to be awful.

- And while we're on the subject of Twilight things, Nanny McPhee Returns director Susanna White has signed on to direct an adaptation of Twilight author Stephanie Meyer's The Host. Hurry, someone tell me what "team" I'm supposed to be on!

- Ricky Gervais says he "had a little meeting with NBC about various things and recommended Will Arnett for a regular in The Office." Honestly, as great as Will Arnett is, does this show really need more out-there characters?

- Jennifer Garner, Marcia Gay Harden, and Andrew Garfield are attached to star in an adaptation of Tawni O'Dell's Oprah-approved novel, Back Roads. Just imagine, by the time that comes out, we'll all be like, "Hey, Spider-Man's in this depressing melodrama!"

- Sounds like Drive Angry's Amber Heard is getting the lead in the long talked-about Red Sonja movie. You can angrily tear down your Rose McGowan Red Sonja posters now.

- Dominic Cooper and Anthony Mackie have joined Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, putting the production miles ahead of James Buchanan Meets Frankenstein.
