Oct 28 2010Tom Cruise Reveals 'Mission: Impossible 4' Title, Has Never Made a Sequel?
On the heels of official title announcements for Transformers: Dark of the Moon, The Dark Knight Rises and, perhaps the most eagerly-awaited of the sequels, Step Up 4Ever, at an press conference in Dubai today Tom Cruise revealed the title of his latest Mission: Impossible sequel--which, strangely, he also revealed is somehow not a sequel:
"It's not gonna be MI 2, MI 3, MI 4, but it's gonna be Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol ... that will be the title of this film," Cruise told a news conference in the Gulf city-state."One of the things that I always wanted with the franchise was for it to not have a number afterwards, because I haven't made sequels of films, and I never really thought of these films as sequels."
Of course you haven't made sequels, Tom Cruise. So long as you name the fourth film in this (non-sequel) series so that it sounds like a Tom Clancy XBox game, the previous Mission: Impossible films retroactively stop being sequels. Well done. You figured out the solution to the sequel conundrum. But can you solve the Impossible Ghost Protocol?
