De Niro, Pacino, Pesci, and Scorsese Possibly Teaming Up for a Mob 'Expendables'

September 14, 2010

It's a gangster combo once only dreamed of on airbrushed t-shirts but now it looks like it just might happen: Deadline has word Joe Pesci and Al Pacino are now in talks to join The Irishman, the mob drama about Frank "The Irishman" Sheeran that's being developed by Robert De Niro and Martin Scorsese. Just imagine all those guys in one place. It would be like Goodfellas with Pacino instead of Ray Liotta! Or like the above photo if I'd taken the time to photoshop Pacino over Spike Lee.

Even if the two do agree to join the project, it could be some time before anything materializes: Scorsese still has to finish his out-of-character 3-D adventure Hugo Cabret, and the director has talked about possibly then moving on to an adaptation of Shusako Endo's Silence. Sounds like De Niro, Pacino, and Pesci still have time for Meet the Fockers: More Debased Actors and a thematic sequel to Bucket List!
