Jul 27 2009'Tron Legacy' Teaser: Light Cycling, Now Less Revolutionary!
The Tron Legacy teaser trailer went online over the weekend, and if you thought seeing a complicated 3-D bike battle was impressive in 1982, wait until you see it in 2009! Far less impressive, actually. I don't know if you've heard, but computer generation is a pretty standard system of rendering objects at this point; no longer groundbreaking. Looks like it will make for a pretty solid video game though:

New movie looks good. I haven't seen the original in over 25 years. I remember it being boring. However I wanna give it another shot as an adult. I think I'll check it out tonight.

Just think in 20 years your kids will bitch about sequels to all the timeless sci-fi flicks being created now and at the same time obsess over the originals as if they had been alive to see them. Films such as um, uh. The uh. You know, the classics from the 90's that set are redefining the standard like um, uh.
Wait where are all the fucking new classics so your kids can bitch in 20 years.

Actually, once the players left the game grid in the original Tron, they were able to turn in curves.

9 is correct....once they left the game grid they WERE able to turn in circles and do curves....so people bitching and saying "ZOMG this is fail they dont turn at right angles...fail!!" you need to get your shit in check and go watch Tron again before you try to rip on something you have no idea what your ripping on.
Anyways...this movie is gonna be SICK. The look and feel of it looks great! I heard it was gonna be "darker" than the original and yes...Daft Punk doing the score is gonna fucking OWN!!

The new suits don't look exciting at all. Its like every other movie and video gamesuit I've seen over the last few years. Almost like they just took out a scuba suit and just painting 3 lines on it...

It doesn't look bad, and having the faces imposed on the clearly human bodies is clever, but it lacks the insanity that the original had visually. This one looks like it won't make your eyes bleed, unlike the first.

Man, wasn't it swell when they showed this same exact footage months ago?? I'm hoping this one isn't basically just the same movie with better graphics.

Granted through, once they left the game grid they also stopped leaving a wake behind them...
But hey, in the last 2 decades we've had a lot of advances in game graphics, controls, and physics... so why not if the storyline picks up 20 years later?
Personally, I'll reserve judgement for when it more than a 'tech demo' scene comes out to look at.

It's actually closer to a year since first released. Did they show this at the con AGAIN?! Lame.
And via "Tron" haters- The original was NOT boring. You obviously didn't see it in the '80s. It was a bold movie that just had some slow parts.
I predict it'll be okay but not as innovative and creative as the first. But the DAFT PUNK soundtrack will rule.

Well, I like Daft Punk and Jeff Bridges. But I hated the original movie. So mixed feelings overall.

This reminds me a bit of speed racer, not a bad movie btw, the action in this little trailer seems a bit dry, but the special effects were kind of enchanting. we will see, i just took intrest becouse daft punk is scoreing it.
