Jul 24 2008'Rocky Horror' Coming to MTV; Prepare to Shout and Throw Things at Screen
Remember the 1975 cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show? Well prepare to forget it! Because MTV is making a hip new version for their cable network that's going to knock the last 30 years of midnight showings out of existence:
MTV is doing the time warp on a remake of 1975 cult classic "The Rocky Horror Picture Show."Two-hour remake will use the original screenplay by Jim Sharman and Richard O'Brien but may also include music not featured in the original.
I really like that they're using the original screenplay. It's as close as they'll come to admitting "we have nothing new to add to this, but need an excuse to have another girl from The Hills act and sing something." Want to takes bets on how long it will be until we get an announcement for The Rocky Horror Reality Show, in which couples compete for who can stay longest in a transvestite-filled mansion?

Oh hell, we were supposed to throw things at the TV screen? I misread and the sheer horror made me scream profanities destroy a company monitor. Also, I think that using some "girl from the Hills" and "act" in the same sentence is a tad generous. Also, totally got fired for "Wanton Destruction of Company Property"

No, but seriously folks... can we all just get together, sign a petition, email out some death threats... whatever it takes really to stop people from pissing on our cherrished memories.... because I promise you, we are just a hair's breadth away from George Lucas deciding that he wants to remake, reimagine, restart, or reanimate THE GOONIES... and once it comes to that point there really will be no more point in living.

I just watched Rocky Horror last night, and as I was watching it I turned to my boyfriend and said " I wonder how long it will be before someone tries to remake this, it would be a terrible thing to see". As far I am concerned, no one, not anyone could play Frank'n Furter like Tim Curry. There is a reason I own over 400 dvd's and it's because I can't stand to watch the shit being remade these days. It'd be nice if someone could get an original idea. I'll pass on this one and just keep singing along with my original.

The horrible thing is, I used to say to my friends "Heh, you know cinema's dead when they remake the Rocky Horror Picture Show..." ...ngh.
The only one with the chops to play Frank N. Furter (judging by his work in Cabaret as the Emcee) would be Neil Patrick Harris.....but we all know that's not going to happen because it's freakin' MTV T_T

I might even be able to take the remake (even though the campy platform original would still kick it's arse) even though I wouldn't see it. But extra songs? No you fuckers, just NO!!!

I knew we were in for trouble when I heard that idiot kid from High School Musical was in the works to remake Footloose. Made me want to poke my eyes out. Now I'm starting to think I should become a hermit and stop watching movies altogether. It might be safer.
Hollywood is starting to look and sound like "sons of the soil" - all inbred remakes with extra toes and missing ears that the normal relatives want to keep hidden in the attic.
