Jul 8 2008'Dark Knight' Will Be Good For People Who 'Go for the Previews'
We all know that The Dark Knight comes out on the 18th (or if you don't know, you've been ignoring the constant free publicity I've been giving it), but did you know that the film will be preceded by a series of "previews" for films that have not even come out yet? It's true. These "trailers" (interesting name, because they do not trail the film; remind me to "wiki" this) work as sort of prognosticators, providing early glimpses of the movies of the future, and Dark Knight is going to have some doozies:
What you can expect are the first trailers for Warner Bros.' Terminator Salvation (May 22, 2009), which of course also stars Christian Bale, Zack Snyder's graphic novel adaptation Watchmen (Mar. 6, 2009), and the Ridley Scott-directed thriller Body of Lies (Oct. 10), with Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe.
Of course, you could also wait a day and view these trailers on something called "web," but that's a chapter for another day.
The Trailers with The Dark Knight? [Coming Soon]

What is this "Dark Knight" you speak of? Its the first I've heard of it. Never seen any commercials or ads or anything.
Is this the Batman Begins sequel?

I like your sarcasm.

Speaking of, what the hell is up with the commercials at the beginning of movies? I thought we go to see movies in the theater because its' supposed to be something special, and NOT like sitting at home and watching television. I'd seriously like to kick the ass of the marketing genius who thought up that strategy. Previews are different, because they usually make an effort to include movies that relate to the film you're there to see, and it gives you time to get your snacks and stuff settled before they start the show, but the commercials are strictly annoying.

Son of a... I report on this weeks ago (June 20th), send it around, and no one touches it. Then CS.net reports it and suddenly it's news. Sigh...

You also forgot to mention that the first trailer for Watchmen will be shown before The Dark Knight.

"Zack Snyder's graphic novel adaptation Watchmen (Mar. 6, 2009)" he did "Dan"....uhh...wha?

The reason they're called trailers is that they used to be shown after the movie, not before it. Of course, this was when it said "The End" and that was it -- no 20-minute-long crawls after the story's over.

OH MY GOD!!!!!!! A WATCHMEN PREVIEW?!?!?!?!!I will destroy Zack Snyder if he ruins this.

Glad the Watchmen rumor turned out to be true. I'm looking forward to that ALMOST as much as the actual movie. ALMOST. If any of the audience makes noise, talks, or disrupts the Watchmen trailer in any way, I will kill them all.
Rorschach style.

I am going to have to give myself such a break from release to when I actually watch this or Iam going to hate it. Total over saturation.

I agree with Priest....I hate those commercials. I like trailers, which is good since i have to sit through about 8 now but commercials too?? Now they've just gone too far.

someone posted about this already, but i have the official wika info!!
The term "trailer" comes from their having originally been shown at the end of a film programme.[1] That practice did not last long, because patrons tended to leave the theater after the films ended, but the name has stuck.
wow!

I live in Alabama where, contrary to popular belief, we don't use outhouses, drive cars and not horses, not everyone talks in with a hick accent, and have really nifty theatres that show no commercials before a film. They're called Amstar Theatres which are under a larger company called The Grand Theatres. Absolutely no ads. Only previews. And yes, it rocks that way. Stadium seating, digital projection, and all that jazz.
If you're ever around this way, check it out. Matinee prices (which are before 6:00am and) are only $5.50. And yes, that rocks too.
Respeck!

Well, now I'll know whether or not I really want to watch Watchmen or not.

Thanks 5159. Wisconsin's a long way from Alabama, but if I'm ever out that way...
