Nov 18 2009 In French, 'Avatar' Looks a Lot More Made-for-TV Fantasy Miniseries-ish
The lack of John Rhys-Davies is all that's separating this from being a SyFy original called Effigy.

Oct 23 2009 New Trailer for James Cameron's Blue Alien Movie
Johnny Legal Department doesn't want us to have this until next week, but, thanks to bootleggers, the new trailer for a certain highly-anticipated sci-fi adventure involving blue cat people is on internet. Hurry, before it's not!

Sep 11 2009 'Takers' Trailer: These Guys Have Such Explosion Apathy They Must Be Awesome
Did all the cut-and-pasted heads on the Takers poster get you super worked up to see why Hayden Christensen was dressed up like a high-class rude boy? Of course it did. And now you can sate that desire with this trailer for the generic heist film.
In the film, The Wire's Idris Elba leads a crew of rappers (T.I.), singing domestic abusers (Chris Brown), Jedi (Christensen), and Paul Walkers (Paul Walker) in the robbery of somewhere between $25 and $30 million. But it won't be easy: Matt Dillon is on the case to stop them! I doubt he does, though. Have you seen this heist crew? They casually walk away from exploding helicopters! That's the criterion for bad-ass dudes. At least until someone comes up with something even more awesomely dangerous to nonchalantly stroll away from. Maybe a Tyrannosaurus holding a samurai sword?

Aug 20 2009 'Avatar' Trailer: It Will Destroy Everything You Hold Dear! I Guess.
James Cameron's Avatar is being called everything from "a gamechanger" to "a life destroyer" to "something that will forcefully fill every one of your orifices with three-dimensionalness." The film's first trailer has finally been released, so now you can see what all the fanboy catcalls were all about. I guess the game changing part is that this is the first forest species to look slightly more convincing than Ewoks?

Aug 4 2009 Another Sparkly, Blue, Alien Face: 'Avatar' Poster #2
That director of Titanic, whoever that may be, has released another character poster for Avatar, this one featuring the CGI-ified face of Zoe Saldana. It's only half-a-face, but at least this look at the Na'vi species is female, so I can start deciding if I'd sleep with a cat-eyed blue-face, because I know that will eventually come up in conversation. I'm leaning towards "probably, after a couple space drinks."

Mar 6 2009 New 'Star Trek' Trailer: Spock Hugs
It's so hard for Spock to hug. Trying so hard to remain emotionless but realizing the inevitable sentiment that spawns from a good hug. I think that's probably the main conflict in this movie:
Feb 2 2009 'The Star Trek' Super Bowl Spot
All this fast-paced action and extreme-sports free-falling and kissin'! J.J. Abrams is going to make Star Trek so cool, and we'll all be free to finally body modify our ears into points without fear of persecution. Unless you do it to look like an elf, not a Vulcan--that would be so nerdy.
Dec 15 2008 Advanced 'Star Trek' Banner & Dragons
After seeing this banner from MTV, the characters all lined up, with so many sharp eyebrows and/or angular features, does anyone else get the impression the Enterprise is being run by half-elves? Bones (second from the left) looks like he might be human, and Chekhov (far right) is probably a halfling, but the rest are half-elves. It really makes you think what the stats, class, and alignment of each character would be according to 2nd edition rules, and how those attributes would weigh in on an away mission battle against a Beholder, doesn't it?
Nov 24 2008 'Star Trek' Posters are X-Games Incarnate
OK, I get it now. I thought Eric Bana's Nero character was some kind of evil Romulan guy. I can see now that he's actually the result of a young boy's wish that his BMX bike come to life. Below the cut: Uhura!

Nov 17 2008 UPDATED! Someone Who Pays to See Movies Recorded This 'Star Trek' Trailer for You
An official version is expected later today, but until then, here's a bootleg of the new Star Trek trailer for you to do some watchin' on.
A Star Trek movie with sports cars, on-bridge brawlin', and Uhura bra shots? One thing's for certain: this ain't your (nerdy) father's Star Trek! It might, however, be your douchey step-dad's Star Trek, and he'll probably be mad we were messing with it.
UPDATE: Official, nice-looking version available here, and streaming under the cut. (Thanks, Fox.)
Oct 16 2008 God, Look at All This 'Star Trek'
All across internet, new production stills from Star Trek have turned up, such as the above shot from UGO. It's Chekov, Kirk, Scott, Bones, Sulu, and Uhura! Not pictured: Spock, Worf.
Below the cut: five more.
Jul 18 2008 'Star Trek' ComicCon Posters Work Like the Backs of Collectable Movie Trading Cards
As part of a Comic-Con preview, Entertainment Weekly has a look at the set of four Star Trek posters being handed out at the San Diego convention. Con attendees will each only get one of the posters apiece, meaning fans will be forced to literally murder each other if they hope to complete the logo. I guess that's one way to control the Trekker population.
Sep 18 2007 Zoe Saldana Playing Star Trek's Time-Life Operator
Hey, have UHURA'D the news of who Zoe Saldana is playing in Star Trek prequel?!
Do you see what I did there? I gave you a little clue in the first sentence. You probably missed it because it was so cleverly and seamlessly worked in, but look again and you'll see that she's playing Uhura, which you may have also guessed because that's the only role possible for a black female.
If you saw Pirates of the Caribbean, you know the actress as Anamaria, or if you saw the Britney Spears buddy-flick, Crossroads, you know her as Kit (but really, what were you thinking?). Saldana joins Zachary Quinto as Spock and Anton Yelchin as Chekhov, and you can see her soft-focus close-up debut Christmas 2008.
