With Terminator Salvation getting dismal reviews and less-than-stellar box office, Sony Pictures has decided on the last-ditch effort of showing their entire Termi-hand, and they've released a new television spot that reveals the much talked about cameo by a young, digital Arnold Schwarzenegger head pasted on a bodybuilder Roland Kickinger's frame. If you haven't seen it yet, I think you'll be pretty impressed by how surprisingly convincing it looks. All those years of copy-and-pasting bosses' and teachers' heads onto naked bodies has finally fulfilled itself in a meaningful way:

Aug 18 2008 'Curious Case of Benjamin Button' TV Spot, Courtesy of Strange TV-Recording Person
A new preview of David Fincher's The Curious Case of Benjamin Button ran during the Olympics last night. Fortunately for those who missed it, someone happened to be recording their television with a digital camera at the time (which people do, apparently), so here's it is. As a warning, the footage is pretty bad, and whoever recorded it is either on life support or stuck in an episode of 24 and about to go to commercial.

It's almost magical how they've managed to condense the entire essence of what it is to be a Sci-Fi Channel Original Movie in under ten seconds, and how that magic is strangely heightened by the Davidhasselhoffonline.com watermark obscuring the shoddy CGI and "of course you're in Anaconda 3" actors.
It's going to be really sad when John Rhys-Davies dies and his awards show tribute clips will be Indiana Jones, Lord of the Rings, then a bunch of crap like this.*

Jul 16 2008 'Pineapple Express' TV Spots Are Effective
There are few movies in which the knowledge that I'll probably have to endure hearing stoned dudes imitate a high-pitched "who is it?" for a few months can't detract from my enthusiasm. These new TV spots for Pineapple Express have cemented it firmly among those narrow ranks. Somehow James Franco's simulated stoned mumbling paired with an overplayed M.I.A. song proves much more effective in practice than in theory. See for yourself, under the cut.
