May 11 2009 Something for Fans of 'Terminator Salvation' and Grease-Soaked Pan Pizzas

Thanks to a partnership between Pizza Hut and Warner Bros. (as a "Hut" rep explained: "Pizza Hut's iconic red Hut may not be as intimidating as the Terminator's red eye, but pizza and movies are time-tested favorites"), the Book-It sponsor has just released a new clip with behind-the-scenes footage from Terminator Salvation.

Director McG introduces it, explaining it's for "Pizza Hut and Terminator fans" (i.e., everyone) and adds, "You're about to see the Harvester attacking humanity," so I was expecting a giant robot going on a long diatribe about man's war-like ways and tendencies towards greed and destruction, but it ended up being more exciting than that. Gas tanker-exploding exciting!:

Jul 1 2008 Another New 'Dark Knight' Trailer Creates Pizza-tainment

Well, it's 2008, and I worry it's beginning to look like we may never find a way to embed data in the seasonings of a pizza crust, allowing for a DVD you can watch and later enjoy as a personal snack (PVDs). But all hope is not lost! Pizza and entertainment have found different way to merge into one cheesy, obesity-inducing form: pizza franchise-exclusive trailers! You may remember Papa John's recently worked out a trailer deal with The Mummy 3, forever connecting Brendan Fraser's Boy Meets World hair and pepperoni; now Domino's has a similar promotion with The Dark Knight, and there's a new resulting trailer with some new footage. It's pretty good if you ignore that Joker's voice-over is pieced together like it's from a hastily-edited reality show.

Jun 23 2008 'The Mummy 3' Trailer, Sponsored by Papa Johns

If you've been to the Papa John's Pizza website in the last few days (I don't know how you wouldn't have been, but I'll indulge the faint possibility), you'll have noticed that the page has been updated with the trailer for The Mummy 3: All Wrapped Up in China. It's a perfect fit: Brendan Fraser and mummies in general are known for their insatiable love of pizza--coining such phrases as, "Cowabunga, it's pizza time!" and "I really love Papa John's pizza!"--making them obvious spokesmen for the company.

Anyway, the trailer is here. It contains many stupid things, most of them in the form of Xena-level CGI and forced jokes from the mouth of Brendan Fraser. I found myself mostly annoyed at the poor military leadership of the Dragon Emperor, having his undead legions fire arrows at the rival army of skeletons. Arrows against skeletons?! Good luck with that.
