May 26 2009 Real 'Green Lantern' Trailer Probably Won't Look This Convincing

Welp, you might as well stop editing together footage from Firefly and 28 other movie, television, and video games to piece together a Nathan Fillion-starring fake trailer for Green Lantern, because this guy Jaron Pitts has done it, and you probably aren't going to be able to beat it unless you include several squirrel Green Laterns. This guy has knocked it out of the park and into the internetverse.

The real Green Lantern movie doesn't have a chance against awesome sequences from other movies with green effects digitally inserted:

Jun 26 2008 The 'Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog' Trailer I Refuse to Watch

Thus far, I've irrationally avoided the majority of Joss Whedon's work for the sole reason that Entertainment Weekly covered most of it so heavily. My roommate in college had a subscription, and I got really annoyed flipping through so many articles about Buffy. Friends who love Firefly tell me this is a stupid reason to avoid Whedon's work, and that Firefly is very enjoyable, but I have still resisted. Fuck 'em.

Now Whedon has another work for me to stubbornly, pointlessly avoid: Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, a three-part web series starring Neil Patrick Harris, still riding high on his How I Met Your Mother/Harold and Kumar/Old Spice ad fame, and there's a trailer. If it looks good, don't tell me. I'm trying to remain blissfully ignorant.

To paraphrase the trailer's voiceover: "Remember how some hack writer read something called EVP, then cobbled together a sloppy narrative around it? Well, we've done some more "Googling" and found some other phenomenon about near-death experiences, then embellished it to an absurd degree. God knows you must have already seen or heard of a better movie with the same plot, (a person sees ghosts and/or can see how someone will die!) but just indulge us. And did I mention it's straight-to-DVD? Yeah. It is."
