Nov 7 2007 Moby's Music Free to Indie Filmmakers, Non-Profit Pornographers

One burden often facing a young filmmaker, aside from coming up with a plot that isn't "Fight Club meets Tarantino", is where to find decent, royalty-free music for their masterworks--particularly when that music needs to be mediocre, easily-accesible electronic music.

No longer will this be an issue, film students. Your savior is here in the form of a hairless vegan, with Moby now offering tracks to be used for free in non-commercial film and video.

hi, i'll keep this brief. this portion of moby.com, 'film music', is for independent and non-profit filmmakers, film students, and anyone in need of free music for their independent, non-profit film, video, or short. to use the site you log in(or on?) and are then given a password. you can then listen to the available music and download whatever you want to use in your film or video or short. the music is free as long as it's being used in a non-commercial or non-profit film, video, or short. if you want to use it in a commercial film or short then you can apply for an easy license, with any money that's generated being given to the humane society. i hope that you find what you're looking for, moby

Remember when you found that celebrity sex tape, and quickly realized it desperately needed a soundtrack of old gospel songs mixed with a house music sensibility? Do it! Moby's got ya covered! Couldn't that video of your cat jumping at a screen be improved with an electronic drone over a drumbeat, making it seem like the cat might be dancing? Try Moby! Want your choreographed lightsaber battle to seem more like an Intel ad? You get the idea.
