Kick-Ass trailer, everyone. If you're considering becoming an amateur superhero with no actual powers, watch this first. I'm not sure if it will discourage you; I just think it's the kind of thing that will probably be relevant and popular in amateur superhero circles, and I wouldn't want you to look foolish.

Apr 22 2009 'Kick-Ass' Hit Girl Will Either Kill You or Get You Arrested

Empire has posted the first look at Hit Girl, the child assassin in Matthew Vaughn's adaptation of the Kick-Ass. I still haven't read the comic, but according to my research (looking at this image), this is not an entirely accurate reproduction of the character. In drawn form, wouldn't you say she's a little less... jailbaity? I mean, this actress is 12. I can't even joke about this photo without afterward going door-to-door under the terms of Megan's Law.

Sep 22 2008 'Kick-Ass' Set Shots Look Accurate

In Toronto, shooting on Matthew Vaughn's Kick-Ass adaptation has begun, and here's the first shot to emerge from the set. Over at /Film, they have a couple more, along with some of the comic panels this scene is based on. You'll be astounded at how accurately a real-life bird man crashing onto the top of a car recreates a drawing of a bird man crashing onto the top of a car.

Mar 20 2008 Vaughn Adapting, Attempting to be, 'Kick-Ass?'

After having only a single issue reach newsstands, Ain't It Cool News is already reporting that a motion picture adaptation of Marvel Comics' Kick-Ass is being written, and will be directed, by Matthew Vaughn of Layer Cake fame. (See Vaughn's long-gestating Thor movie or his abandoned work on X-Men: The Last Stand for proof of his ability to talk about making comic book movies.) The comic follows an average teenager's attempts to be a superhero in a world much like ours, where superpowers and superheroes are bullshit.

The bigscreen treatment of Kick-Ass comes as no surprise, considering that series creator Mark Millar once bragged of pitching the comic as “Superbad meets Spider-Man.” I assume that Millar decided to pre-package further comic properties for ease of Hollywood executive use after the trailers for his Wanted evoked "The Matrix meets One of the Matrix Sequels." Executives LOVE meetings between two things they've heard of. Just love 'em.
