Oct 6 2009 What Happens When You Arbitrarily Fuse 'Where the Wild Things Are' Trailer and 'Gremlins 2'
And now Gremlins 2: The New Batch is getting a line of clothing and housewares at Urban Outfitters.

Jun 16 2009 If David Lynch Directed 'Dirty Dancing'
Not as haunting a juxtaposition as If David Lynch Directed A Goofy Movie or If David Lynch Put Still-Warm Panties in His Mouth, but still definitely worth watching for some new perspective on putting Baby in a corner: David Lynch's Dirty Dancing.
(Thanks, Matt.)
May 12 2009 'Bambi 2' Fused with Patrick Stewart's Scene from 'Extras'
I don't understand why anyone does anything.
Below the cut, Ian McKellen's famous Extras appearance, again synced with footage from Bambi 2 but, strangely, done by a different person who also shares an interest in combining the straight-to-video Disney sequel with the Ricky Gervais TV comedy.

May 7 2009 It's Like a YouTube Mash-Up With Reading Instead of Video!
With Ghostbusters 3 on the horizon and The Limits of Control being called tedious and indulgent, this McSweeney's article, "Jim Jarmusch's Notes for a Ghostbusters Sequel," is even more relevant today than when it was written in 2005. So don't think I'm lazily posting a 4-year-old article just because someone named Jessica sent it in (thanks, Jessica), I'd never seen it before, and I thought it was funny. No, I've been holding onto this thing for years waiting for perfect timing, which is now.
Apr 21 2009 Henson's 11
Are you familiar with the video mash-ups people do? The mixing the audios and the videos of a couple things into something else? OK, good. This one is The Muppets vs. Oceans 11, giving us: Henson's 11.
Apr 16 2009 David Lynch Should Have Directed 'A Goofy Movie'
While looking at other David Lynch animations on YouTube, I just stumbled upon some great: a haunting trailer for A Goofy Movie as re-imagined by the surreal director. Prepare yourself for two minutes of finding Goofy's name completely inappropriate.

Dec 22 2008 Doctor Who and Star Trek Combo Now Real
As promised a couple weeks ago, here's the first part of the fan-made Doctor Who Christmas Special that seamlessly fuses the modern Doctor with '60s Star Trek. Like when a girl puts on a Leia suit at a comic convention, the actualization of such a nerd fantasy is at once beautiful and dangerously close to a lawsuit:

Dec 11 2008 'Dr. Who' Meets 'Star Trek: TOS'
Rick Kelvington is a man not content to idly rest on his mash-up laurels. Since successfully though inexplicably fusing the new Star Trek trailer with the Smallville credits, he's been hard at work on a new project: an eight-minute-long special where Dr. Who encounters the original Enterprise crew. I won't pretend to understand his motivations, but if I had a job opening for combining geeky interests in video form, he would be the new manager. He is guiding us into a new era of technical expertise in the realm of fusing things for the entertainment of the internet, and there's no going back.
Here's a trailer and clip from the special:
Nov 19 2008 'Star Trek' Trailer Meets 'Smallville' Now
I don't understand how this happens. Monday, the Star Trek trailer comes out. By Tuesday afternoon, we've got a Beverly Hills 90210/Star Trek trailer mash-up. Then by that night, I get an email from a Mr. Rick Kelvington showing me he's made a highly-polished Smallville version. How does this happen? I didn't know anyone watched Smallville, let alone considered it an option as a basis for a Star Trek trailer parody, but there it is. To think, before the internet, we would have had to wait months for someone to dub this on a tape and sell it for $20 at a comic convention:

Nov 18 2008 'Star Trek 90210', Starring Kirk, Syler, Breasts
The Star Trek trailer has been out for like a day, yet somehow an internet guy has already made a mash-up to mock the young cast: Star Trek 90210. If you're thinking it's a re-cut Star Trek trailer set to the theme of Beverly Hills 90210, yes, it's that, but it's also much better than I was expecting.
Check it:

Jun 13 2008 'The Happening'... Hmm, That Sounds Vaguely Similar to Something Else...
As you probably know, M. Night Shyamalan's latest mess is titled The Happening, but did you realize that's only a contraction and a couple exclamation points away from sharing a title with the '70s sitcom What's Happening!!? No? Well, someone more perceptive has, and as you'd expect, a surprisingly entertaining fusion of the two has materialized. The Rerun dancing reveal is surely more frightening than any scares Shyamalan has for us.
