Mar 2 2009 Keira Knightley To Be Cloned, Clavicles Harvested

duchess-keira-knightley.jpg

If any "haters" generate complaints about Keira Knightley acting robotic in her next role, at least she can blame it on her character being a clone! Because, as everyone knows, human clones are basically robots. Or so they say:

[Keira Knightley] is ditching the period garb and going futuristic, signing on to star in the cloning-themed thriller Never Let Me Go.

Per Variety, the would-be blockbuster centers on a trio of British boarding school students who grow up isolated from the rest of the world only to realize they are actually clones whose sole purpose is to have their organs harvested.

At least if there are any hater-generated complaints about a robotic performance this time around, Knightley can blame it on her character.

Thanks for the tip, Brandi, even though your subject line, "Never let me go," made me feel I was more wanted than was the case.

It's based on the incredible true story! Of how the guy who played Eddie Munster stalked a duchess (I assume)!

Dec 27 2007 'The Duchess' Trailer is Mediocre, Totally Oscar-Worthy

Another cliched tale of a pretty girl forced to marry one man--who's clearly an asshole--when she loves another? I'll pass. Wait a minute, you say she'll be wearing a big puffy dress? Like with hoops and stuff? Giant, elaborate coiffures, too, you say? Don't tell me there will be candelabras. F*** you, there will be candelabras?! Well, but if there won't be frumpy guys in starched George Washington wigs... Wait, seriously?!

My point: why is an extremely mediocre story suddenly made to seem Oscar-worthy if it's set somewhere between the 17th and 19th century? And even if critics somehow hate it, it will still be nominated for Best Costumes. Puffy dresses. Yeah, that's really good. I've never seen that before. How on earth did you get it so puffy? Is that just a lot of fabric, and you puff it out somehow? Wow, that's something. You definitely need to be awarded something for making so many puffy dresses.

Oct 19 2007 Keira Knightley in 'The Duchess'

Whether it's her brilliant acting or some kind of visual effect, Keira Knighley has me nearly convinced that her emaciated frame would be able to support such a weighty headpiece in this shot from the set of The Duchess. In fact, the only one who seems to notice the comical proportions is the chuckling man to the right, who appears to be an 18th century Jimmy Fallon. So, if he's anything like current Jimmy Fallon, he's more likely just laughing at himself.
