Oct 6 2008 Kat Dennings Joins a Fake Superhero Thing
Kat Dennings, or Nora, as you know her if you watched Nick and Nora's Quantum iPod this weekend, is in talks to join Woody Harrelson and Sandra Oh in Defendor:
Kat Dennings, who stars in "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist," which bowed in theaters this weekend, is in negotiations to join Woody Harrelson and Sandra Oh in "Defendor."Written by Peter Stebbings, who also is making his directorial debut, the film centers on a regular guy (Harrelson) who believes he has a secret superhero identity. Dennings will play a teenager he befriends, while Oh is cast as his psychiatrist.
Man, another superhero thing? I love superheroes as much as the next dweeb, but this balloon is going to burst. There are just too many Iron Men and Hancocks and Batmen and Super Ex-Girlfriends and Superhero Movies to keep sustaining this boom. Mark my words, we're on the edge of collapse. Sell your collectible Slurpee cups now, before the crash.
Aug 4 2008 'Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist' Trailer Requires Infinitely Large Zune
Man, if Michael Cera got paid a dollar every time he played a perpetually awkward teenager, he'd be like the richest guy alive. Here's the trailer to Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, in which Cera was paid to again act like an awkward teen, and probably more than a dollar. So I guess that means he's the richest guy alive. Sorry, Bill Gates and that one sultan.

Jul 8 2008 'Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist' Poster is the Next Quirky Whatever
The sounds of Kimya Dawson and "honest to blogs" quotes are still echoing in my head (now on DVD!), but apparently we may have the next Juno (the next Little Miss Sunshine) on our hands--another comedy-romance driven by indie music, Michael Cera's endless awkwardness, and a hand-lettered title. From MTV Movies Blog:
“Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist,” the music-centric, romance-tinged comedy (based on the bestselling book) that finds Michael Cera and Kat Dennings as high school seniors who join forces to hunt down an elusive secret concert in New York City. I’ve seen this one and it could very well be the new “Juno.”
Thus, by using reverse logic and noting the familiar side-view of a yellow vehicle in the lower corner, we can infer that this, in fact, actually the new Little Miss Sunshine, and didn't that already come out? What I'm saying is that quirkiness has torn a hole in the space-time continuum, and we're now doomed to spend eternity in a sea of too-clever dialogue and Golden Globe nominations.
