Oct 26 2009 'Sherlock Holmes' Poster: HOLMES FOR THE HOLIDAYS!
Bravo, tagline writers. "Holmes for the Holidays" is marginally better than "Have a Merry Christmystery!" or "Sher-Lox on a Bagel: Happy Hanukkah!" You did it.
Big version at Cinematical.

Oct 7 2009 New 'Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus' Trailer Still Leaves 'Imaginarium' Undefined
Here's the new Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus trailer, in all its final-Heath-Ledger-performance, phallic-nosed, multiple-actored glory. If this doesn't make you want to see it, you clearly have an issue with alternately carnivalesque and candy-lacquered surreality making your eyes lose their eye-minds:
Aug 11 2009 'Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus' Trailer a Treat for the Eyes (Unless You're Colorblind)
If you're one of the many who heard about Heath Ledger's final film, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, and thought, "I have no idea what an imaginarium is; a gymnasium where the mini-tramps are clouds and the dodgeballs are dreams?", you're in luck. This new trailer should explain everything. Actually, no; it won't really explain that much at all. I still have no idea what an imaginarium is. But if I had to guess from this trailer, I'd say it's wherever you go when you're on a lot of acid:
Jun 23 2009 'Sherlock Holmes' Posters: Holmes has Twilight Hair
From the same desaturated universe as Harry Potter, here come the Sherlock Holmes character posters. I have to say, I'm pretty disappointed about the move away from advertising Holmes as a brooding Tom Petty. Which look am I supposed to wear when I'm standing in line opening night?

May 19 2009 'Sherlock Holmes' Trailer: It's a Fun One
I try not to ever say a movie "looks like a fun one." That's how my grandparents used to describe movies, and I hoped to never devolve to such a simplistic level of critique that judges all films as "fun ones," "renters," or head shakes and disgusted sighs. But I see no other way to describe Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes. It genuinely looks like a "fun one." And not like a Transformers fun one, where enjoying the scant moments of fun means pushing aside all the aggravating, brain-hurting, often nonsensical events that led you there. A genuine fun one. Non-Crystal Skull Indiana Jones type fun.
The trailer:

May 6 2009 More From That 'Sherlock Holmes' Detective Man Movie
Though Data and Geordi in the Enterprise holodeck will always be my go-to Sherlock Holmes point of reference, because I'm a nerd, USA Today's article and accompanying photo set covering Guy Ritchie's take on the famous detective have given me some renewed interest in the action-adventure reinterpretation. Even producer Joel Silver's quote, "Audiences are interested in seeing something they know," wasn't quite enough to discourage me about this project. You can't fault him for being depressingly honest.
Feb 4 2009 Jude Law Secretly 'Designing Women' Cast Member
Actually, the above shot comes from Rage, an upcoming murder mystery in which the actor plays a transvestite supermodel. It's amazing how much eyeliner some guys will pile on to plead for an Oscar nomination.

Oct 30 2008 Last Minute Costume Ideas from 'Sherlock Holmes' Set
The Bad & Ugly has some new shots from the set of Guy Richie's Sherlock Holmes that give a better look at Jude Law as Watson and Robert Downey Jr. as Holmes. Still need a Halloween costume for the weekend? Just get a fedora, tilt it to a jaunty angle, and you're ready to wow the crowds as the world's greatest detective, RDJ style. Next year it will be passé; this year it's cutting edge, so much so that you'll probably have to keep telling people you aren't a hobo.
Oct 13 2008 See the RDJ and Jude Law as Fictional Sleuths
Just Jared has put up some photos of Robert Downey Jr. as Sherlock Holmes and Jude Law as Watson from the set of Guy Ritchie's new action take on the character. With all the ascots and suspenders, it's like a regular accessories seldom used in modern culture convention on that set! I don't know.
More shots here, of a Chaplin-esque Sherlock.
Sep 19 2008 It's Elementary That Jude Law is Playing Watson, Watson
Variety reports that, in addition to slowly, inadvertently transforming into Phil Collins, Jude Law will be taking on the role of Watson in Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes:
Jude Law is negotiating to join Robert Downey Jr. in "Sherlock Holmes," the drama that Guy Ritchie will direct for Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow Pictures.Law is expected to close a deal shortly to play Watson, the super-sleuth's sidekick.
Does this guy love being in sleuth movies or what? He was in that movie Sleuth, then there's this movie with a sleuth... and... hmm... you know... there's probably one or two I'm forgetting, so we'll say that's three or four sleuth movies. And this could probably get a sequel if it does well, so that's six. So yeah, I was right in saying this guy loves being in sleuth movies. He's in like seven.

Feb 15 2008 Depp, Farrell, and Law Stepping Into 'Imaginarium'
After Heath Ledger's untimely death, there was some speculation as to who, if anyone, would take his place in Terry Gilliam's The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. (Also, who's getting his apartment???) AICN claims to have the answer, and it's a surprisingly long list: Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrell. According to the site, all three actors will play the character at different points in the film.
I wonder if they're doing this pro bono in honor of Ledger. If it's inflating the budget too much, Gilliam should know he could probably get Frank Caliendo to play fat versions of all four of them for a fraction of the cost.
Oct 3 2007 'My Blueberry Nights' Trailer Can Be Yours, Too
With my feeble notebook's speakers, I wasn't able to really understand most of the sedated dialog in this trailer. Thankfully, near the end I picked up the line, "Goodbye doesn't always mean the end. Sometimes it means a new beginning," telling me it didn't really matter. The only excuse for such a line is if the movie is about people quoting terrible movies, in which case it's brilliant.
My Blueberry Nights stars Norah Jones, Jude Law, Natalie Portman, and Rachel Weisz, all trying desperately to earn more indie cred.
Jul 11 2007 Sleuth Trailer
With Kenneth Branagh at the helm and Michael Caine (of the original) starring with Jude Law, will the retelling of Sleuth be one of the few remakes to actually near the quality of its predecessor, or is this just Law's excuse for re-popularizing Hulk Hogan's hairstyle? You decide!
PS: The strange CGI targeting effects in the trailer make me think I've turned into a Terminator.
