May 21 2009 'Gamer' Trailer: In This Game, There Are No Little Power-Ups with Red Cross Symbols on Them!

gamer-trailer.jpg

Imagine: a future based on someone's dim recollections of The Running Man and Death Race--a future where death row inmates are given a shot at freedom if they agree to compete in a ridiculous form of neo-entertainment. And imagine that the neo-entertainment is much like a first-person shooter video game, but also sort of like virtual reality, wherein outsider "gamers" mind-control the actions of the incarcerated. And pretend that the role of "gamer" would not be limited to the few privileged elite (probably Richard Branson and Moby) able to afford the surely expensive price of getting to control a man's fate; let's just say kids got to make criminals like Gerard Butler, John Leguizamo, and Ludacris jump and shoot their way to freedom.

That future is now!:

Mar 25 2009 'Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs' Dark Horse in "Most Disgusting, Inappropriate Joke in a Kids' Movie" Contest

Just when the makers of Alvin and the Chipmunks thought they had it locked with the inclusion of a poop-eating joke, along comes Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs with a scene that, while debatably more inappropriate, is definitely more Kingpin-inspired:

Sep 10 2008 'People Celebrating Christmas' Has a Trailer

nothing-like-holidays-trail.jpg

It turns out some Hispanic families, like the African-American family last year, celebrate Christmas too! Here's the trailer to Nothing Like the Holidays, starring Alfred Molina, Debra Messing, Luis Guzman, the cast of Grindhouse, and, for some reason, not Edward James Almost:

In Nothing Like the Holidays, two of today’s most talented actors, John Leguizamo (The Happening, The Take) and Freddy Rodriguez (“Six Feet Under,” Bobby), join Debra Messing (“Will & Grace,” “The Starter Wife”), Alfred Molina (The Da Vinci Code, Spider-Man 2), and director Alfredo de Villa (the award-winning Washington Heights) to tell the humorous and heartwarming story of one unforgettable family holiday.

There's no way John Leguizamo and Freddy Rodriguez should be considered more talented than Alfred Molina, but anyway, here it is:

Mar 11 2008 'Righteous Kill' Trailer: De Niro, Pacino Acting Tough

righteous-kill-trailer-deni.jpg

You ever wonder what it would be like to get modern screen legends Robert De Niro and Al Pacino to star as partners in a classic cop story? From this trailer, it looks like it's a lot like when you let two old guitar legends improvise--producing a meandering, two-hour long riff that no one wants to listen to--except with more acting like a tough guy.

The director probably said something like, "You guys freeform, do your schtick, whatever you want--we'll give Leguizamo or 50 Cent some lines that will sort it out in the end." We'll see how that works out, but still, nice call throwing the Rolling Stones song in the trailer, giving the vague impression this might be a sub-par Scorsese film.

Jul 18 2007 Leguizamo Joins The Happening

Variety reports that John Leguizamo has joined the cast of M. Night Shyamalan's The Happening. The film stars Mark Wahlberg as a man escaping natural disaster with his family, with Leguizamo taking the role of his best friend. Now it's time to play the popular game, What's going to be up with John Leguizamo in The Happening?

1. He's some kind of god that is causing the very disaster they're fleeing.
2. He has some hidden power that can stop the disaster at the last minute.
3. He's a ghost.
4. He's an alien.
5. He's something far more obnoxiously convoluted.
6. He's something strange that will be obvious to you in the first five minutes, which you'll later brag to your friends about as a testament to both Shyamalan's poor direction and your own impressive deduction skills.
7. He's the pest.
8. He's obviously not seen Lady in the Water and has made a horrible career move.

Feel free to suggest your own.
