I'm no bigamist, but ladies, you can't fully blame Joaquin Phoenix--or any other guy--for taking two lovers. There have been studies done, by scientists, that show men often instinctively feel the need for one cold, distant, urban mate, one comatose, haunted mansion-dwelling mate. It's genetics.

Oct 31 2008 Joaquin Phoenix Has Quit Acting???

I've been avoiding covering this because I never believe it when actors say they're retiring from films (or say that they're "down to earth"), but since a few people have sent this news in, here it is: Joaquin Phoenix says he's retiring from films. From Extra with Mario Lopez:

Last night at the Paul Newman benefit, the Oscar nominee told "Extra," "I want to take this opportunity... also to give you the exclusive and just talk a little bit about the fact that this will be my last performance as an actor... I'm not doing films anymore."

"Extra's" Jerry Penacoli, shocked by the news, further probed Joaquin. "Are you serious?" Phoenix, who was curiously being followed by his own camera crews, reiterated, "Yeah. I'm working on my music. I'm done. I've been through that."

I can't blame him. This is a natural, if belated, response after being in The Village, but come on, quitting for his music career? This guy thinks he's a regular Dogstar!
