Sep 2 2009 Beavis and Butthead are Back! And Shilling for 'Extract'!
Hey, remember Beavis and Butthead? Mike Judge hopes you do, because he's made a new animation where the characters introduce a clip of his new film and laugh about how Jason Bateman's name contains a third of the syllables required to say "masturbate." Seeing that Judge's last film, Idiocracy, had little to no promotion and no theatrical release, I'll give him a pass on this pandering, kind of sad effort. If we're lucky, maybe it will encourage Dana Carvey to promote Master of Disguise 2 with some Church Lady videos.

Aug 20 2009 'Extract' Still Being Marketed as a Straight-to-Video National Lampoon's Movie
A new Extract one-sheet has been released and, just as with the previous poster, for some reason the poster-makers have decided to visually assert that the seemingly funny Mike Judge comedy is, in actuality, a straight-to-video National Lampoon's movie. It's like they intentionally left Ben Affleck's photo off the poster so that we wouldn't think the cast was too impressive for a film whose biggest draw is apparently that Mila Kunis looks generally attractive.
IMPA notes that this is Extract's final poster, so I guess we'll never get the obvious next step: Jason Bateman grinning at us between the legs of a bikini-clad woman, just above the tagline, "She'll suck it ALL out."
Apr 14 2009 'Extract' Poster is Subtle
Say what you will about "floating head" poster design ("that it's typical, generally unsightly, and insinuates audiences are too stupid to enjoy a movie for anything other than its stars" would be a good start), but at least seeing the disembodied heads of Jason Bateman, Ben Affleck, Kristen Wiig, and Mila Kunis would let me know Extract is a lot more than another National Lampoon's straight-to-video venture. A bottle and walnuts forming a crude representation of a penis and testicles (over the spotlight-on-a-solid-color Apatowian backdrop nonetheless)? If it weren't for the Mike Judge seal of approval, I would be still be scanning for the line "with cameos by Alan Thicke and Married with Children's David Faustino."

Office Space's Mike Judge has a new comedy coming out, and unlikely his largely-overlooked last film, Idiocracy, this one's getting a theatrical release! The Juno duo of Jason Bateman and J.K. Simmons have re-teamed, and they're now joined by a scraggly-haired Ben Affleck, SNL's Kristen Wiig, and Mila Kunis as "babe Jason Bateman's sexually frustrated protagonist really wants to sleep with."
