Mar 17 2008 'Horton Hears a Who', Sees Cartoon Dollar Signs

horton-hears-who-box-office.jpg

1. Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who! - After a $45.1 million weekend, sounds like Horton heard a cha-ching! Like a cash register. For all the money it earned.

2. 10,000 B.C. - $16.4 million, I assume because rushed theater-goers see it at the top of the alphabetical movie listings. Hopefully?

3. Never Back Down - $8.6 million, and I won't!

4. College Road Trip - That magical medley of Martin Lawrence, Raven Simone, Donny Osmond, and driving, proves impossible to resist, earning another $7.9 million.

5. Vantage Point - Another $5.4 million as audiences rush to see how the timeless romance between tennis stars Paul Bettany and Kirsten Dunst somehow leads to political assassination. (Note: Well, I just realized I was mixing up the titles of Wimbledon and Match Point. That's just the way it goes sometimes. So replace the names with Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Rhys Meyers, if you care.)

Mar 10 2008 '10,000 B.C.' Wins Inaccurate Representation of Prehistoric Weekend Box Office

10000-bc-trailer.jpg

1. 10,000 B.C. - A solid $35.7 million gives it the March record for f***ing up kids' understanding of the past.

2. College Road Trip - $14 million--a typically Raven number.

3. Vantage Point - Which of eight unique perspectives led you to contribute to Vantage Points' $7.5 million: overpowering boredom, desperation to find a way to spend two hours of your life, Matthew Fox, or whatever the other five could be?

4. Semi-Pro - Another $5.9 million, immediately spent on hilarious web-banner advertisements.

5. The Bank Job - Sounds like it wasn't a "bank job" for the Jason Statham flick, taking in only $5.7 million! Haha--banks are related to money!

Jan 3 2008 AM Poster Post: 'College Road Trip' Poster Excitement

Finally, a movie poster really catered to me, featuring all of my favorite things: That's So Raven, Martin reruns, pigs, cars, Donnie Osmond, and overpowering self-loathing that won't stop screaming until I've destroyed myself.

Nov 19 2007 'College Road Trip' Trailer is So Raven

Taking what I think was as an episode of Who's the Boss? and expanding it to over three times its natural life span would be a tough task for anyone. Most would never attempt such a feat. That is, unless your standards for comedy fall somewhere between playing a modern time traveler, bringing much-needed sassiness to the Dark Ages, and dressing up like a fat woman.

Such is the case of Martin Lawrence, whose latest bout of hammy shouting takes him on a road trip with his daughter (That's So Raven!) to find a college, hence the appropriately descriptive title.

As much as the "I'm an overprotective dad!" comedy falls flat--and it definitely does--I was surprisingly amused by the not-so-subtle comparisons drawn between Raven and a piglet. (Why else is it there?) And with several taser jokes scattered throughout, I was even more surprised that they fought the overwhelming urge for a "Don't tase me, bro" joke. Or at least they're saving that for the full movie.

Take your own hilarious college road trip, under the cut. And thank Kyle for the tip.
