May 11 2009 Something for Fans of 'Terminator Salvation' and Grease-Soaked Pan Pizzas

terminator-salvation-harves.jpg

Thanks to a partnership between Pizza Hut and Warner Bros. (as a "Hut" rep explained: "Pizza Hut's iconic red Hut may not be as intimidating as the Terminator's red eye, but pizza and movies are time-tested favorites"), the Book-It sponsor has just released a new clip with behind-the-scenes footage from Terminator Salvation.

Director McG introduces it, explaining it's for "Pizza Hut and Terminator fans" (i.e., everyone) and adds, "You're about to see the Harvester attacking humanity," so I was expecting a giant robot going on a long diatribe about man's war-like ways and tendencies towards greed and destruction, but it ended up being more exciting than that. Gas tanker-exploding exciting!:

May 8 2009 Four Effing Minutes of 'Terminator Salvation'

terminator-4-minutes.jpg

This trailer really lays all the cards on the table. John Connor confronting his Terminator buddy; Terminator motorcycles; Terminator Bears fighting Terminator Gorillas; a Terminator punching a guy so hard he lands on the sun; the 1st Annual Terminator Dog Show; a smaller Terminator skeleton within a larger Terminator skeleton; Terminator Buddha; just everything.

I can't imagine there are many surprises left for the film after this trailer, but still, kind of awesome:

Mar 27 2009 'Taking Woodstock' Trailer with Demetri Martin

taking-woodstock-trailer.jpg

Imagine you agree to have a quiet little concert party behind your parents' motel. But then that little concert party quickly snowballs into a really big, awesome concert party! And the name of that concert party is WOODSTOCK! ORIGINAL WOODSTOCK, not those bullshit '90s Woodstocks. Now quiet your eager imagination, because this concept is already a movie directed by Ang Lee, and here is the trailer:

Mar 6 2009 New 'Star Trek' Trailer: Spock Hugs

star-trek-trailer-spock-hug.jpg

It's so hard for Spock to hug. Trying so hard to remain emotionless but realizing the inevitable sentiment that spawns from a good hug. I think that's probably the main conflict in this movie:

Dec 15 2008 Advanced 'Star Trek' Banner & Dragons

star-trek-banner.jpg

After seeing this banner from MTV, the characters all lined up, with so many sharp eyebrows and/or angular features, does anyone else get the impression the Enterprise is being run by half-elves? Bones (second from the left) looks like he might be human, and Chekhov (far right) is probably a halfling, but the rest are half-elves. It really makes you think what the stats, class, and alignment of each character would be according to 2nd edition rules, and how those attributes would weigh in on an away mission battle against a Beholder, doesn't it?

Nov 17 2008 UPDATED! Someone Who Pays to See Movies Recorded This 'Star Trek' Trailer for You

star-trek-trailer-official.jpg

An official version is expected later today, but until then, here's a bootleg of the new Star Trek trailer for you to do some watchin' on.

A Star Trek movie with sports cars, on-bridge brawlin', and Uhura bra shots? One thing's for certain: this ain't your (nerdy) father's Star Trek! It might, however, be your douchey step-dad's Star Trek, and he'll probably be mad we were messing with it.

UPDATE: Official, nice-looking version available here, and streaming under the cut. (Thanks, Fox.)

Oct 16 2008 God, Look at All This 'Star Trek'

All across internet, new production stills from Star Trek have turned up, such as the above shot from UGO. It's Chekov, Kirk, Scott, Bones, Sulu, and Uhura! Not pictured: Spock, Worf.

Below the cut: five more.

Aug 25 2008 'New York, I Love You' Trailer Tries to Sell Idea of Affection Towards Popular City

new-york-i-love-you-teaser.jpg

Here's the trailer to New York, I Love You (the thematic sequel to Paris, je t'aime), the upcoming film in which 13 directors pretend there aren't already a lot of movies proclaiming love for New York and make some of their own. Who are these directors? All your favorites. Rush Hour director Brett Ratner? Got him. Natalie Portman the Director? She's there. Natalie Portman's Other Boleyn Girl co-star, Scarlett Johansson the Director? Yup. Plus, it stars everyone, and is going to make Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon ridiculously easy from now on.

Aug 11 2008 New 'Star Trek' Character Posters Show That Cast Are Wearing Appropriate Uniforms

star-trek-posters-2.jpg

The new Star Trek character posters were revealed at VegasCon this weekend, finally putting together the actor-face/slight-hint-of-uniform combo we've been envisioning for months. Is it just me or does Simon Pegg look far more like Tim Conway than Scotty? (Dorf references are still relevant, right?)

High resolution here.

Mar 19 2008 Yelchin in Talks to Join 'Terminator'

anton-yelchin-terminator.jpg

Alpha Dog's fabled "Stolen Boy"-turned-teenage Chekhov, Anton Yelchin, is in talks to join the cast of McG's unnecessary addition to the Terminator series. Yelchin would play Kyle Reese, the character originally played by Michael Bihn who travels back in time to impregnate Sarah Connor--who then births Earth-savior John Connor (Christian Bale), who is in his 30s now that there's the chance he may meet his teenage father. Or something like that. I lost track somewhere around the point where the plot transitioned from dystopian future to Jerry Springer, 2030.

Aug 8 2007 Anton Yelchin Joins Star Trek

anton-yelchin-chekhov.jpg

J.J. Abrams has added one more name to his Star Trek prequel crew with actual Russian Anton Yelchin taking the role of Chekhov, the Enterprise's navigator. You probably saw Yelchin in his recent role as the kidnapped kid in Alpha Dog, the one the blonde girl strangely identifies as "stolen boy" in the trailer. The actor is twelve years younger than the film's Spock, Zachary Quinto, which seems like a larger gap in age than I would have expected, though I know nothing about Star Trek ages and have no reason for thinking that. Still, it's given me hope for a toddler Sulu, which will be adorable when he tries to fly the ship and can't reach the pedals.
