Feb 26 2009 Will Ferell & Mark Wahlberg Are: A Sort of A-Team Parody
It's the news you've been waiting for. Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg will soon be entertaining you as a comic, crime-fighting duo:
Sony Pictures Entertainment has acquired “The B Team,” a spec pitch package for an Adam McKay-directed action comedy that will team Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg as cops, with Chris Henchy and McKay writing the script.Pic will be a co-production between Gary Sanchez Productions and Mosaic. Sony has not set a release date on the film, but it is expected to go into production as quickly as the filmmakers can get it ready.
The comedy was pitched around town on Tuesday by Endeavor and CAA, and Sony co-president Matt Tolmach moved quickly. Tolmach was comfortable committing to a film without a finished script, because Columbia worked in exactly the same fashion on “Talladega Nights” and “Step Brothers,” both of which were set up with a pitch and the collaborative track record of McKay and Ferrell.
Good work, men. Now that we've bridged the gap between the Frat Pack and Entourage, the combination of Dude movies at our disposal are endless.

May 5 2008 'Anchorman 2' is Coming, For All Your Quoting Needs
Remembering when you looked forward to Will Ferrell movies? It's tough to recall with all the layers of sports spoofs covering your memories with novelty wigs, but there was a time, at least for me, that Anchorman was semi-revered, and news of a sequel would bring about something akin to a smile. I'm not really sure how I feel about one anymore, but co-writer/director Adam McKay has now confirmed to Collider that one is definitely planned.
Adam McKay: I'm looking to do another movie, I might do this other movie called Channel 3 Billion which is kind of this science fiction/Brazil type comedy. Then after that, Will and I are like let's do Anchorman 2…so you're talking like 2 years maybe we'll do it. But we're going to do it, for sure.Collider: That's like 100%?
Adam McKay: Yeah, yeah, yeah. We're dying to do it. Unless we can't get the cast together, which is always kind of a tricky thing. But, I think, with that cast we're all friends, so yeah, we want to do it.
I would have more to say on this, but I'm afraid I have to get to a Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian screening. Don't worry: I'll have a Bible on-hand to note all the intriguing parallels between Christ and Lion Neeson or whatever.

Apr 18 2008 Let's Make 'Another Stakeout' a Cult Classic for No Particular Reason
In a move reminiscent of Conan O'Brien's surprisingly successful campaign for the theatrical re-release of Dirty Dancing, some fellows at Funny or Die have a new cinematic cause that I think we can all get behind: somehow turn the Richard Dreyfus/Emelio Estevez/Rosie O'Donnell sequel comedy Another Stakeout into a cult classic.
Notable comedy writer/director Adam McKay outlines the plan:
Come join us and help us turn this movie into a giant cult hit for absolutely no good reason. Register and vote 10/10 for the movie. Get into heated trivia arguments about the movie. Quote lines, question other Stakeout heads' commitment to the movie. Let's forward this e-mail and flood the site to the point where there are Another Stakeout festivals and conventions and midnight showings with people in costume saying lines along with the movie ala Rocky Horror Pic Show. And remember, we are Another Stakeout fans. Not Stakeout fans. The first one was pretty good but like the Godfather 2 (or is the Godfather 2 like Another Stakeout?) director John Badham got it right the second time around. AS 2 forever!!
Show your support for the cause and enjoy AS's classic "dog chased by Rosie O'Donnell chases a cat up a tree" scene, under the cut.

Feb 21 2008 'Step Brothers' Poster Would Have Once Been Exciting
Does this image make anyone else feel as empty as it does me? As much as I genuinely like Ferrell, Reilly, and writer/director Adam McKay, I just can't force any enthusiasm for this thing. It's like staring at a Happy Meal: I know at one point I'd have been really excited for what awaited me, but now all I can see is blandness, uniformity, and what appears to be pubic hair.

Jan 8 2008 'Step Brothers' Pose at Sears Portrait Studio
Step Brothers takes the Adam McKay/Will Ferrell/John C. Reilly grouping of Talladega Nights and asks, What if we made fun of the affluent and spoiled, rather than the poor and trashy, with two competing stepbrothers? I'll try to reserve the necessary comparisons to Dumb and Dumber and pubic hair until the trailer.
