It will be annoying if, when you go to your family's Thanksgiving gathering, you find out one of your young relatives has just been introduced to the Ace Ventura series, and won't stop doing horrible impressions of the character. It will probably be something like this:

Mercifully, no, this is not the first image of Chunk from a Goonies remake, which would be the worst idea of all time. But it is the first look at very close to as bad of an idea: Ace Ventura Jr. Did Son of the Mask and Dumb and Dumberer not teach us that '90s Jim Carrey comedies should not spawn child-based sequels? I would have thought that went without saying, but let me say it again. '90s Jim Carrey comedies should not spawn child-based sequels. This rule similarly applies to '90s Adam Sandler comedies. I know that hasn't happened yet, but I can all too easily see Scion of Billy Madison heading straight-to-DVD despite the fact that a child returning to school would make no sense as a concept.
