Javier Bardem has been signed to star in Biutiful, Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's upcoming film that spells "beautiful" with an... "i"? Weird. From Variety:
Javier Bardem will star in Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's "Biutiful," the Mexican helmer's first project after his much-publicized bust-up with former screenwriting partner Guillermo Arriaga.Spanish-language pic "Biutiful," which Gonzalez Inarritu wrote, shoots on location in Barcelona next week.
Pic is about a man embroiled in shady dealings who is confronted by a childhood friend, now a policeman.
Yikes, it's Gonzalez Inarritu's first film since breaking up with his writing partner. This could be weird. Hopefully the script won't have any awkward mentions of "someone staying out all night writing with his friends while I sit at home alone worrying, and writing" or "the way you ogle younger writers while we're out, writing." Don't make me pick sides!

Those three powerhouse filmmakers, Iñárritu, Cuarón, and Del Toro, who formed their own production company and proved conclusively that brown is the new black, have announced their first production. Carlos Cuarón, Alfonso's brother and co-writer on Y Tu Mamá También, will direct Rudo y Cursi, starring También stars Gael Garcia Bernal and Diego Luna.
The title translates to "Rough and Corny" and the film follows two brothers who play soccer, or as our friends south of the "border" hilariously refer to it, fútbol. No word on whether there'll be any man-on-man oral in this one. As my neighbor Tyrone says, "That shit ain't right, dawg."
