
Commissioned by Bryan Cranston's personal assistant to make the actor a unique custom Christmas gift, Boston artist Jon Defreest put together this: I'm Dreaming of a Walter White Christmas, a VHS clamshell mock-up of an animated Breaking Bad holiday special. Assumedly, Cranston liked this gift, because it's pretty good, and because it is not Bryan Cranston's 'Total Recall' Character Narrates: A Christmas Farrell, which would have been stupid.

Though the ever-increasing mass of Paranormal Activity sequels and Latino-themed spin-offs should be more than enough to slowly bring the found footage genre crashing in on itself, directors David Bruckner, Glenn McQuaid, Joe Swanberg, Ti West, Adam Wingard, and directing collective Radio Silence have come together to speed up the process with V/H/S, a horror anthology that collects several found footage films within the larger context of another found footage film. Are you found-Inceptioned yet?
Framing the anthology as a whole, a group of criminals are hired to recover, as the official synopsis describes it, "a rare piece of found footage from a rundown house in the middle of nowhere." Naturally, the criminals attempting to find this pre-found footage also use consumer electronics to shakily record themselves attempting this heist, which goes afoul when it turns out their intended victim is dead--and, more crucially, was something of a Wes Bentley from American Beauty, stocking an entire room with screaming-filled tapes. Ut oh, guys, we're apparently going to have to watch all these found footages to re-find the right found footage!

The perfect weekend project for anyone with a bunch of old VHS tapes and some sort of huge, ornate pavilion, "Tube" is an art installation by Zilvinas Kempinas (via) that consists of a bunch of VHS magnetic tape innards stretched and arranged into this 80-foot tunnel that makes anyone inside look like they're awesomely time traveling. This is exactly what we need to be doing with our economy-crashing world surplus of Jerry Maguires. More photos below.
