With Universal's plans for a Twins sequel--Triplets!--still somehow real, the studio has hired on writers to carry their vision beyond the "now Eddie Murphy is also a sibling" phase.
When news of an Eddie Murphy-inclusive Twins sequel (titled Triplets, naturally) was released the Friday before April Fools', it had many sensibile minds asking, "Is this real?" Because it did not seem real, but if it was real, it meant we needed to figure out what brought us there, and stop it before it evolved into a shooting script for Junior, Jr..
Well, in a just-released interview from before the official announcement, DeVito's brother Arnold Schwarzenegger has managed to clear up any remaining ambiguity on the subject of Triplets' realness: Not only is Triplets real, it is "real entertainment"! Here, let Arnold explain to you why that is.
In what must be the cruelest, most ill-conceived repackaging of Twins since the film was sold with Kindergarten Cop instead of Junior, Universal and Montecito Picture Co. are developing a sequel to the Arnold Schwarzenegger/Danny DeVito comedy that would see Eddie Murphy playing a long-lost, even-unlikelier third brother. This is real. (Or if it's not, I am going to be seriously disappointed.)
