'The Campaign' Trailer Teaches What Nuts Feel Like

A petulant man-child shouting at and/or physically fighting another grown man is the hallmark of a true Will Ferrell comedy. It is to him what having a beautiful spouse and the laid-back appearance of perpetually, blearily staggering from a dorm room to the showers is to an Adam Sandler movie. So, with a round of The Campaign political ads already laying out the characters Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis will play in the comedy--modified versions of George W. Bush and Seth Galifianakis, respectively, it would seem--here's the official trailer to confirm, yes, also this is a Will Ferrell movie. Grown men will fight each other. Arms and legs will be pierced by snake fangs and crossbow bolts. A baby will get punched in the face. And Dylan McDermott is in this? Since when is he shooting anything besides television drama promos?

'The Campaign' Campaign Ads: Will Ferrell, Zach Galifianakis Want Your Buffoonery Vote

Here are the first set of campaign ads from The Campaign, an aptly-named comedy about the congressional runs of rival candidates played by Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis. As we maybe could have predicted from the talent involved, Ferrell's political character is basically a less squinty take on his George W. Bush, while Galifianakis seems to be giving us his sometimes-political alter-ego Seth Galifianakis as a slightly higher-functioning good ol' boy, and overall, the August release looks like it could provide some decent and timely laughs this election year. Or, if nothing else, it will give us something to gesture at with a thumb when, from the corner of our mouths, we mutter, "Not too far off from the real thing, y'know?", and then everyone knowingly half-chuckles and nods.
