Geekologie I Watch Stuff The Superficial

Ever Want To See 'Superbad' as a Cartoon?

That's now an attainable goal in your life. Well done, YouTube user stevefalz--though, as usual, I'm not entirely sure why done.

Below the cut, the "Afternoon Delight" sequence from Anchorman, now animated.

'Superbad'/'Pineapple Express' Crossover Movie? Really?

pineapple-express-preview.jpg

Freddy and Jason, Alien and Predator, that time Urkel was on Step by Step: if there's one thing audiences will tolerate, it's pointless crossovers. So how about a Pineapple Express/Superbad crossover, even though Seth Rogen is in both films playing different roles, which would probably lead to some kind of confusing, Tommy Westphall-style paradox? Well, regardless, James Franco says it might be happening. From MTV:

Even before ‘Superbad’ came out, I think the studio was trying to get [Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg] to write a sequel, but they really didn’t want to write a sequel. I guess the kids would go to college or something like that [that was the studio's idea],” Franco said. “And so, an answer to that was to do a ‘Superbad’/'Pineapple Express’ crossover, an unprecedented crossover movie with two directors, Greg Motolla and David Gordon Green, each directing half of the movie and somehow these characters get together, which doesn’t make sense at all, but could work.”

I have to agree that this doesn't make sense at all, but, yeah, it could work--especially if they follow the example of crossovers that worked in the past. Because Judd Apatow and Seth Rogen definitely read this blog, I've helpfully made a list of the top five crossovers of all time. Study these, guys, and you can do no wrong. Thank me later.

Superbad Interview Meltdown

It's good to see the Superbad group are following-up all the fake cast freak-out videos made for Knocked Up with another selection of clips leading up to the release. This one features a press junket with Michael Cera and Jonah Hill where a British interviewer's questions send Hill off the handle. (Psst! That interviewer is director Edgar Wright!)

Warning: the language is frequently unsafe for workplaces, small children, most grandmas, Christian extremists, goody-goodies, and anyone else who hates a good F-bomb.

Superbad Penis Drawings Clip

This clip is exactly what the title implies, making it unsafe for workplaces that don't allow penis drawings, but is well worth watching in your private, penis-drawing-friendly time. Prior to viewing I had no idea it was possible to draw penises in so many ways, and believe me, I've tried.

Superbad Clips

IESB posted six new clips
from Superbad this morning. So, you know, if you're into that whole thing...

Personally, I plan on actually seeing this movie, so I won't be watching any of these clips. To me, that'd be kinda like picking the toppings off a pizza before you even put it in the oven. I mean, sure it tastes good, but you know you just totally screwed over your future self. Anyway, if you're keeping score at home, that's Similes: 1, Exclusive Clips: 0.

Superbad Interview

Yeah, so happy fourth of July, f***ers. Obviously, this won't be my first post while intoxicated, but it is the first on a holiday. Don't expect this in the future. --End Disclaimer.

Anyway, bottom line, comingsoon.net has an interview with Seth Rogen and Judd Apatow about Superbad, and dammit if they don't say all the right things:

"To us that was the big joke. The injustice in movies was that no one in high school movies truly talked and act how we would in high school," Rogen explained. "Just the fact that we were in high school and could swear all the time was just a novelty to us. It was the first time you weren't around your parents all the time or in an elementary school so we would go crazy and have the most filthy conservations. We just hadn't seen that in movies really."

A high school movie starring high school kids, written when the writers were in high school, in high school vernacular. Well shit, it sounds like a fine idea to me, and I commend the studio for being as supportive as Rogen says. Wow, what a f***in' fanboy post this is. Drinking really does take the edge off.

Knocked Up Parody Promo: Judd Apatow is a Funny Guy

Michael-cera.jpg
"See those two ho's in the background? Yeah, I banged them too. Rock n Roll. Deal with it."

I'm sure this video will be all over the internet soon, so why not see it here, right? Right?? Anyone??

Anyway, it looks like Judd Apatow decided to do a parody* of the leaked clip of Lily Tomlin arguing with I Heart Huckabees director David O. Russell. This one imagines Michael Cera of Arrested Development and the upcoming Superbad as the original star of Knocked Up who gets fired for being difficult.

On the other hand, I got fired for from the orphanage for caring too much. Well, caring too much and that thing with the Mexican kid. Whatever.

*I would say "spoof", but apparently that's Aussie slang for semen; weird
