Though pretty much all the appeal of The Expendables and RED lies in the impressiveness of gathering notable old people to shoot things around a centerpiece of Bruce Willis's skull, that's not deterring Lionsgate from looking at turning both of those soon-to-be-franchises into TV series that would presumably involve far less notable olds.

Anthony Hopkins may very well be one of the aging old faces you recognize in the upcoming sequel to 2010's more-fun-than-it-should've-been RED. Unless he'll be busy having something glued over his eye.

Your weekend box office numbers:
1. Megamind - $47.7 million--almost ten million less than Despicable Me's opening, and less than half of what The Incredibles made the same weekend in 2004. But Megamind can probably catch up to those numbers after a few unwarranted sequels and a straight-to-video release based around a supporting character.
2. Due Date - $33.5 million. Expect to see a jump in teen pregnancy as high schoolers attempt to emulate getting a girl pregnant and having a madcap adventure to get home in time for the child's birth.
3. For Colored Girls - $20.1 million (i.e., needed more Madea).
4. Red - $8.9 million (i.e., also needed some Madea).
5. Saw 3-D - $8.2 million. (i.e., needed the most Madea).

Your weekend box office report:
1. Saw 3D - $22.5 million, already making back its $20 million budget, so get ready for another final chapter in the Saw series next Halloween.
2. Paranormal Activity 2 - $16.5 million, so get ready for more camcorder shots of swinging chandeliers, too.
3. Red - $10.8 million, providing a strong but very confusing conclusion to Krzysztof Kieślowski's Three Colors trilogy.
4. Jackass 3-D - $8.4 million, bringing the film's total gross to over $100 million, and likely providing the nut-hitting impetus for a feature-length America's Funniest Videos.
5. Hereafter - $6.3 million. We just weren't ready for a world in which Matt Damon is our window into the afterlife.

Your weekend box office totals:
1. Paranormal Activity 2 - $41.5 million. We've finally recovered all that gimmicky horror sequel optimism we lost on Blair Witch 2: Book of Shadows, apparently! A new shaky-cam day has arrived!
2. Jackass 3-D - $21.6 million. There's a waning but still palpable interest in comic genital mutilation.
3. Red - $15 million, putting it ever-so-close to topping the domestic gross of Old Dogs, which should really be the goal of every "aren't they old?" comedy.
4. Hereafter - $12 million. Sorry, Matt Damon. Round 1 of "Who Will Be Our Generation's Ghost Whisperer?" goes to Jennifer Love Hewitt.
5. The Social Network - $7.3 million. Mark Zuckerberg probably spend that much yesterday on his special curly hair guy shampoo.

1. Jackass 3-D - $50 million, the biggest opening ever for a September-October release. Nothing breaks up a nice fall day like watching a man get launched in a port-a-potty.
2. Red - $22.5 million, pretty good considering Jackass's record-setting gross, and that the young hate the faces of the aged reminding them of mortality.
3. The Social Network - $11 million. Are movies about the internet slowly replacing the internet? That will probably be a topic on your local news soon.
4. Secretariat - $9.5 million, because people like stories about horse athletes.
5. Life as We Know It - $9.2 million. Sorry, guys, I still haven't made it out to see this one, so don't tell me whether or not the baby dies in the angry hands of a drunk Josh Duhamel.

The only thing more dangerous than a well-trained CIA agent... is a RETIRED CIA agent! [Slide whistle!] Ut oh, Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren, and John Malkovich, stop shooting guns despite your age! It's CRAZY! Also, why didn't anyone tell Jack Nicholson he was clearly supposed to be in this?

Stop! Let's take a Malkovich break, yeah?
MALKOVICH BREAK ON
Firstly:
John Malkovich has replaced John C. Reilly in Summit Entertainment's espionage thriller "Red," based on the WildStorm/DC comicbook.
He joins Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman and Bruce Willis on the project, produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian, with DC exec Gregory Noveck exec producing. Robert Schwentke's directing the script by brothers Erich Hoeber and Jon Hoeber.
Secondly:
When conductor Simona Ventura asked [Malkovich] about his role of Vulture in [Spider-Man 4], he not only didn't deny his involvement, but confirmed that he's waiting for the final script to be sent to him, and that the movie has been delayed. He also hopes that shooting will begin as soon as possible.
