New Posters for 'Man of Steel' and a Parenthetical Vagina

man-of-steel-uhhhhhhh.jpg

See how Superman flies like sort of a dope, and Lars von Trier is as subtle as ever, with some new posters for the summer's hottest blockbusters, Man of Steel and Nymphomaniac. Word of warning, though: the Nymphomaniac poster might be NSFW. It depends on your workplace's policy on punctuation as crudely-rendered genitalia.

Somehow More 'Star Trek Into Darkness' Stuff To Pre-Absorb: New Clip, and You Could Own This Poster

into-darkness-imax-poster.jpg

Despite their aggressive, nonstop marketing effort and the fact this Star Trek sequel is going to make a ton of money no matter what, Paramount remains worried no one is coming to see Star Trek Into Darkness, and they're going to look stupid in front of Benedict Cumberbatch. So, here are a couple some new incentives they've got to see the film.

Firstly, in collaboration with IMAX theaters and Gallery 1988, those who see Star Trek Into Darkness on IMAX Wednesday, May 15, 8pm will be getting the above print from artist Mark Englert. As you can see, it's certainly suitable for framing, but know that once you have, you've made a pretty strong decision with your home decor. You're the friend/former-lover with the elegant Enterprise painting framed over their couch. Participating theaters listed here.

Second, here's yet another clip from the film, this one showing a dramatic confrontation between Kirk and Cumberbatch's transparently-jailed "John Harrison." Watch below, but beware, it sort of spoils whether Chris Pine can do a less convincing "clearly upset white guy" than Matt Damon in Contagion. (Hint: Of course he can't, but who could?)

More 'Arrested Development' Posters and an Actual Clip

ad-clip.jpg

There's only one month until Arrested Development's new season, and Netflix is not about to let you forget that. This week's reminder: some new, slightly less in-jokey character posters and the first clip of the Bluths in action--an outtake showing that Buster is still in disturbing relationship with at least one Lucille. Watch the video at EntertainmentWeekly, and see the posters below. Maybe you can figure out a way to shoehorn a "blue myself" reference into this.

Now There's a Poster for Patton Oswalt's Detailed Vision of 'Episode VII'

infinity-star-wars.jpg

Making Patton Oswalt's already-legendary pitch for Star Wars: Episode VII as real as it will ever get, sadly, EntertainmentWeekly commissioned this poster for the comedian's vision of a robo-spider Chewbacca, Moon Knight, some Clash of the Titans characters, and so on. Maybe not as good as the fake trailer someone will inevitably make, but hey, if you've been looking for a back piece, now you've got one. (Please do not actually tattoo this on yourself.)

[UPDATED] Get Alone with Some J-U-I-C-E in New 'Arrested Development' Posters

ad2013-juuuuuuuice.jpg

Continuing down the marketing path of referencing to the choir, Netflix has released some new, in-jokey Arrested Development posters to go along with similar fan-focused efforts like putting the series' fake shows up for streaming, "bluing" itself, replacing ratings stars with bananas, and funding an entire season of a decade-old show canceled for lack of interest. Have a look below. If hook-hands, juice boxes, and pharmaceutical bottles winkingly suggesting alcohol do not make sense to you, you've got just over a month to do your re-watching homework.

(Now updated with several more posters.)

First Poster from 'District 9' Director's 'Elysium'

elysium-poster-thumb.jpg

District 9's Neill Blomkamp returns to sci-fi, just as Matt Damon returns to selling films with the back of his head, in this August's Elysium. Here's the film's first poster, depicting a future dystopia in which Damon has become Vin Diesel, and Vin Diesel has become a muscular digital camera. Or maybe it's about something else. We'll find out tomorrow when the first trailer debuts. In the meantime, here's the poster:

Adam Sandler at Least Being Consistent with This Stuff

grown-ups-2-poster.jpg

1. Here's the new poster for Grown Ups 2, so you can put to bed your fears that Adam Sandler & Friends won't be palling around having fun this time around. They will be doing that! And as you can see, they'll apparently be doing it pretty much the same way they did in the film/poster, modest with their chests but never about how much they love being friends and going to waterparks as a movie plot. Rob Schneider is gone now, though. He'll just have to live out joys of famous friends and shirts-required waterparks vicariously, like the rest of us.

2. Remember how Drew Barrymore had been eyed to reunite with Adam Sandler for a third uneven pairing? Well, Variety has now confirmed her involvement, as well as that of longtime director Frank Coraci, the visionary behind The Wedding Singer, The Waterboy, and Click. Happy Gilmore and Big Daddy director Dennis Dugan just got the privilege of Just Go with It, Jack and Jill, and Grown Ups 2, so it was only fair, really.

'Mad Men' Season Six Goes Authentically Retro, Maybe Adds Evil Clones

mad-men-pencil.jpg

With Mad Men coming back in less than a month, returning viewers to the glamorous era of being casually drunk a lot, AMC has debuted a stylish new poster for the series. As you can see, it takes on a distinctly-dated look, which it turns out series creator Matthew Weiner got by finding an illustrator who really used to do things like this--75-year-old veteran artist Brian Sanders. As you can also see, Don Draper seems to be passing by himself, perhaps as symbolism for how the character continually tries to walk away from his past. Or because in the two-hour premiere, Pete builds a robot Don to win a science fair, only to see his creation escape and start a competing ad firm, sending Cooper on a one-man stealth mission to short circuit AutomaDon before he steals all their accounts--and women! Decide with the full poster below.

Oscar Nominees Getting Better Posters, Thanks to Mondo

mondo-oscar-paranorman.jpg

Well, you can throw out all your dumb, stupid posters for this year's Oscar nominees, because here come some better ones. Like Gallery1988 did earlier in the month, Mondo is releasing some designer prints based on the latest crop of Academy Award contenders, and they'll be available for sale here starting Sunday. Right now, they've only revealed designs for ParaNorman, Les Misérables, and The Master (latter two below), but more will reportedly show up for order during the Oscar telecast, and as you can tell from the current batch, Mondo is thankfully taking cues from more than just the Best Picture category. So there's still a chance for a poster inspired by Naomi Watts in The Impossible. Hope lives.
