Lady in the Water sneak peak

lady-in-water-peak.jpg

It's not very informative, but this sneak peak of Bryce Dallas Howard in Shyamalan's Lady in the Water is exciting stuff. And I'm not only saying that because Bryce Dallas Howard looks like she's about to go on a knife-wielding murder spree in this shot. Or maybe have blood start pouring out of her eyes and use telekinetic powers to strangle people.

Steven Spielberg to remake Marry Poppins

mpoppins-remake.jpgSteven Spielberg is apparently set to remake Marry Poppins, though I don't see any possible reason why. Sir Richard Eyre, the director of the London stage show of Mary Poppins, has been approached by Spielberg to helm a new version of the 1964 movie, saying, "Spielberg wants to make a new film of Mary Poppins and we've talked about it a lot. It will be hard to outdo the original but kids love the story and I'm sure that the remake will be a real success."

Unless they ditch the musical aspect and go with the futuristic flying machines shooting everybody to death with their ray guns, there's really no point to be remaking Marry Poppins. A more interesting remake for him to take on would be The Wizard of Oz. At least there you've got some CGI material to work with. And some flying monkeys. That's pretty cool, right?

300 Video Journal Up

300-video-journal.jpg

The first video journal for Zack Snyder's adaptation of Frank Miller's 300 is up. And if all the blue screens don't look impressive, you can check out the concept art page which gives a rough composite of what the final shots will look like. There's not enough material to make any judgements yet, but it looks like they're heading in the right direction. And by "right direction" I mean they hired a lot of muscular guys in underwear.

Miami Vice Trailer

miami-vice-trailer.jpg

The new Miami Vice trailer is out and it looks like all sorts of fun. Michael Mann must really love the digital film he used for Collateral since the quality of the film looks exactly the same, as does all the cinematogrpahy. And considering he got his big break on the original TV series, it's exciting to see how a grown up Michael Mann will be able to improve on his original creation. Although the guy responsible for Collateral and Heat could take a dump on my head and I'd still give him a high five if I saw him on the street.

Frank Miller wants five Sin City films

sin-city-talk.jpgFrank Miller has stated that he's working on the script for Sin City 2 and is hoping that there will be a total of five Sin City films.

"I'm finishing the script right now for Sin City 2 - I can't wait to get back behind the camera. If I have my way, there's going to be five [films] - but that's if I have my way! Five would take care of all the graphic novels - but there's new material that I'm writing for the second one. There'll probably also be a separate graphic novel that I'll do. It's a Nancy Callahan story that I've been wanting to do."

My only complaint with the first Sin City was that all the stories felt too rushed, so if they spread the rest out among five films I'm sure they'll be great. Plus if they're sticking with Jessica Alba, I don't see how a Nancy Callahan story could possibly go wrong. Two hours of Jessica Alba playing a good-hearted stripper? We might as well hand over the Academy Award for Best Actress now.

Uwe Boll is still crazy as ever

uwe_boll_interview.jpgCreature Corner has one of the most bizarre "interviews" I've ever read with director Uwe Boll. It's not very informative at all, but he does talk about his desire to cast The Rock or Jason Statham in his adaptation of Far Cry. Although I don't know how this guy keeps getting the money and resources to make his films, since he's clearly the worst possible director for any actor to attach their name to. I'm not saying that House of the Dead and Alone in the Dark were terrible movies, I'm just saying that if I had a choice between watching them and stabbing myself in the eye with a spoon, you better let the hospital know I'm on my way.
