New 'Great Gatsby' Trailer: DiCaprio Raises a Glass, Out of the Screen in 3D


This latest trailer for The Great Gatsby retains the Jay-Z and Kanye beats of the first preview but at its finale adds in a screamed cover of "Happy Together" as an obvious aural metaphor for what director Baz Luhrmann seems to be doing with this thing: taking a beloved classic and making it unabashedly electric and painfully loud. You'll get some new shots and plot points faintly recalled from when you read this in high school, too, but mostly just variations on the nonstop close-ups we've come to expect from the adaptation: DiCaprio alternately beaming and glowering, Joel Edgerton squinting, Tobey Maguire and Carey Mulligan competing for Best Impression of a Dog Eyeing a Treat, etc. Just like the book! But 3D.
