HBO Doing 'Game Change' Sequel, Cutting Most Popular Characters

After the success of the political drama Game Change--which took home four of its seven Primetime Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Miniseries and Solid Palin--HBO is working on a sequel to again tell the story of some out-of-touch losers.

Game Change book writers Mark Halperin and John Heilemann are writing a sequel, Double Down: Game Change 2012, and according to reports, the Home Box Office has already optioned it to likely bring back director Jay Roach and writer Danny Strong for a thematic sequel.

As the title implies, popular Game Change characters like mean ol' John McCain and kooky sidekick Sarah Palin won't be involved in Double Down: Game Change 2012, as now the subject is the exhausting, just-completed 2012 election--presumably with the focus again on the failed Republican bid for the White House and its radical "game change" back to the game of just white assholes. Any actors looking for their Paul Ryan Emmy better start working out now.
