'Pacific Rim' Viral Stuff Begins with Emergency Test, Empty Promises


Hey, everyone: Guillermo del Toro made a movie where these giant robot mechs fight some del Toro-style Gozillas. That seems like it should legitimately be enough to get people in theaters next summer for Pacific Rim, but Warner Bros. is nonetheless going with something a little more cryptic and elaborate to kick off the promotional push for their film. They've published a "leaked memo" from the film and set up this site for the Pan Pacific Defense Corps, which has a video testing the "Kaiju Emergency Alert System" and a clock counting down to two weeks from today. SOMETHING WILL HAPPEN. How exciting! I know what I'm still taking my meds for! In the meantime, here's that emergency test and memo:
