Jersey Boys will, for now, remain just a stage musical and Mom's fondest memory of New York.
Just over a month after acquiring GK Films' Jersey Boys adaptation, Warner Bros. has decided that a jukebox musical about The Four Seasons is perhaps not what the general public wants. Variety reports they've put the project in turnaround, this despite having a script from in-demand screenwriter John Logan (Skyfall, Hugo, Rango, Noah), Jon Favreau's commitment to direct, and a cast just starting to come together. The studio was supposedly looking at John Magaro, Dominic Cooper, Vincent Piazza, James Badge Dale, and Paul Dano to star, though no official offers had yet been made. Shame, that. Jersey Boys, the Broadway hit that absolutely made Mom's visit to New York with its presentation of familiar songs in a showier context, is now going to be a feature film, and John Logan is going to write it.
