Disney Developing 'Boy Meets World' Sequel Series, Possibly Employing Ben Savage
Following the unsettling example set by Mr. Feeny, the Disney Channel is going to follow the life of Cory Matthews for a weird amount of time.
According to TV Line, the cable channel is in the early stages of developing a Boy Meets World sequel series called Girls Meets World. As its name hints, the show would now shift the focus to a pre-teen girl--the daughter of Cory and Topanga, who married sometime late in the original series, apparently. Disney is reportedly trying to get the original stars Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel to reprise their roles, which probably will not be that be that much of a problem, unless Fishel has a multi-picture contract to make National Lampoon's Dorm Daze a trilogy or something.
Ensuring a consistency of that original TGIF tone, series executive producer Michael Jacobs too has returned, and is said to be in the casting stage for Girl Meets World. Nostalgia-hungry audiences 25 to 35 years of age are expected to get through about half an episode before their enthusiasm deflates like the falling crests of Rider Strong's hair.
