'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' Adds a Villain with Frank Grillo
Watch out, Captain America: here comes Frank Grillo as a man in a tanktop and wrestling mask.
Variety reports Grillo--who recently appeared in Warrior, The Grey, and End of Watch--has signed on to play the only slightly more cartoon gangsterishly-named Brock Rumlow, better known as Crossbones, in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. In the comics, Crossbones is a dangerous, trained mercenary often employed by Red Skull. He's typically seen wearing a skull and crossbones, because the guy really knows how to commit to a theme.
Grillo joins a cast that includes returning star Chris Evans; a returning from the dead Sebastian Stan in the subtitle role; Evans' Avengers co-stars Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, and Scarlett Johansson; and introducing Anthony Mackie as Captain America's bird-man friend, Falcon. Hopefully this will pretty much mark the end of Captain America 2 casting, because that's enough, everyone. We've all seen the hubris of reaching beyond an avian sidekick, a wintry foe, AND a muscly guy in a wrestling mask.
