'Beverly Hills Cop' Series Has Its Son of Axel Foley

Looks like Big Mommas: Like Father Like Son star Brandon T. Jackson is looking to continue his tradition of playing filial afterthought to an unorthodox, increasingly-unwelcome cop.

According to HumorMill, Jackson is in final talks to star in CBS's Beverly Hills Cop series, playing Axel Foley's son and heir to the street smarts that may at first seem off-putting to some by-the-books squares, but eventually prove to be just the perspective the Beverly Hills PD and J. Reinhold needed. As previously reported, The Shield creator Shawn Ryan is behind the comedic procedural, and Eddie Murphy is scheduled to appear as chief of police in at least the pilot episode, allowing the series' former star to set up how banana entered tailpipe, and nine months later there was a son to follow in his father's law enforcement footsteps. But without dressing up as a fat woman this time, because that would be ridiculous.
