An offer was rumored to have been sent out last week, and now comes word that Mr. Popper from Mr. Popper's Penguins has officially accepted a part in Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall.

As reported last month, sequel director Jeff Wadlow had wanted Carrey to play born-again Christian superhero Colonel Stars, and he on Saturday send out a tweet suggesting he got his wish, saying, "we officially have our Colonel. Alrighty f'n then!" Offering further confirmation, Kick-Ass co-creator Mark Millar later provided further winks to Jim Carrey's filmography, tweeting, "he lives with 200 raccoons and parrots, owns the mask of Loki and named by spielberg as a genius." For those still confused that the "mask of Loki" and "200 raccoons" references could be taken as a hint at Jamie Kennedy being cast, and also living in a menagerie funded by Malibu's Most Wanted, earlier today Millar added even more clarification, saying, "NEWSFLASH!!! Jim Carrey now **officially confirmed** for Kick-Ass 2," so we should probably take that as **official confirmation** of the casting. Sorry, Jamie Kennedy.
