'Hitchcock' Now an Awards Contender, 'Gatsby' Decidedly Not


Daniel Day-Lewis suddenly has some competition in the Oscar race for Best Profile Recreation. Fox Searchlight has unexpectedly dropped Sacha Gervasi's Hitchcock into the awards season mix, setting the film for a limited release November 23. The film--which stars Anthony Hopkins in the title role, Helen Mirren as wife Alma Reville, and Scarlett Johansson as Janet Leigh--does not yet have a trailer to promote its impending release, but there is this new poster of Hopkins in a fat suit.

Also in release date news: Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby, once-scheduled for a Christmas release before being bumped to sometime next summer, has been given a more official date. See the Great American Novel in Great American 3D May 10, 2013.
