Studio Ghibli's 'From Up on Poppy Hill' Trailer Charms, But Might Be About Incest

To tide you over until legendary director Hayao Miyazaki delights us with kamikaze attacks, here's the trailer for From Up on Poppy Hill, the new Studio Ghibli film coming from Miyazaki's son Goro. Set in 1963, the animated film is reportedly about a group of a teens trying to save their clubhouse from developers who want to tear it down in preparation for the Olympics--suggesting, as ThePlaylist notes, sort of a Goonies-like experience backed up by the trailer's inclusion of bicycles, boats, and urinal scenes. Less encouraging of the film's Goonies-ness: the fact that the tone is really somber, and that it seems like the "high school love story" promised in the summary may well concern a brother and sister. Still, this is a Studio Ghibli production we're talking about, so you should probably be prepared for yourself and the entire family to be completely endeared by this incestuous romance. Therapy can sort it out later.
