Marvel Getting Its Daredevil Back

Unable to get a guy into a red leotard by the October deadline, Fox is finally losing all those Daredevil characters they haven't touched since Jennifer Garner went home, and the rights are reverting to Marvel.

Just a week ago, the studio had been seeking an extension on their deal--which stated that a Daredevil film had to be in production by October 10, lest Walt Disney and Marvel get back the superhero and his stable of associated characters--and even had Joe Carnahan lined up to direct, but Variety now reports that no such extension is going to happen, all but assuring that come fall, Fox will lose the option of ever dressing up Ben Affleck again. Neither Fox nor Disney-Marvel have confirmed this news, but Carnahan's Twitteer basically has, with the director saying the "clock ticked down" and the project has gone "tits up" and still doesn't have a script (he also posted a "sizzle reel" pitching the tone of his vision, which you can watch below).

While Disney is no doubt thrilled to see their blind hero finally wander home, on the flip side, this also means they definitely won't be working out their optimistic deal to negotiate from Fox the formidable cosmic villain Galactus, who they reportedly had been hoping to reacquire to wage war against the Avengers. But when life gives you lemons, you've gotta make lemonade, so when Fox hands you the Daredevil rogues gallery, I don't know, have Hulk fight Stilt Man or Man-Bull or someone.
