Hugh Laurie Will Not Be in 'RoboCop' After All

With shooting scheduled to begin next month, MGM's RoboCop remake is in sudden need of someone to play "the evil and ultra-rich CEO of Omnicorp," as two-month-long talks for Hugh Laurie to play the villain have apparently broken down.

It was back in June that House M.D. first began negotiations for what sounded a lot like the Dick Jones role filled by Ronny Cox in the 1987 original, but Variety's Jeff Sneider (via) only last night tweeted "HUGH LAURIE has ended talks to play villain in ROBOCOP," later adding that actor is "definitely out of ROBOCOP reboot," leaving future Detroit in need of a new enemy. Is increasing class disparity too obvious?
