Eastwood, Ford, Snipes, Cage Sought To Add Mass to Next 'Expendables'

Just when you thought the sagging, ever-growing tumor that is The Expendables could get any heavier, producer Avi Lerner offers up some other recognizable old guys that could be grafted on: Clint Eastwood! Harrison Ford! Nicolas Cage! Wesley Snipes, once his debt to society has been paid!

Speaking to TotalFilm, Lerner said:

We've approached Clint Eastwood to be one of the guys, we've got a character in mind for him. We're talking to Harrison Ford. [And we want] Wesley Snipes when he comes back from prison. I'll give you one more name, we've got Nicolas Cage to play [one of the characters].

Beyond this ambitious quartet of withering curmudgeons and tax evaders, Lerner also suggested that Mickey Rourke would return to the series on that condition that "he won't be too crazy" (so Rourke will probably not return to the series), adding that, "of course, all the existing stars [will return]." So perhaps Chuck Norris is not all that P.O.'d about The Expendables 2's R rating. Or it's just that one can never escape the tendril grip of Sylvester Stallone's arm veins. Unless they're too crazy. Or if they're Eric Roberts.

Still no word on what happened with dream cast Christopher Lambert and Christian Slater.
