Sam Jackson Will Be in 'RoboCop' Remake


Still showing a willingness to work with the robotically stilted that has placed him in a Siri ad and two Hayden Christensen films, Samuel L. Jackson has joined MGM's remake of RoboCop.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jackson will play a new character named Pat Novak, described as "a charismatic TV mogul and a powerful force in the Robocop world." He joins his True Romance co-star Gary Oldman--who was last month cast as the man who creates the robot-cop portmanteau--and The Killing's Joel Kinnaman, who's playing the titular cyborg policeman himself.

Considering the original film's openly cynical forecast of television's future--I'D BUY THAT FOR A DOLLAR!--and the fact that anyone described as a powerful and charismatic mogul is almost certainly either evil or Iron Man, you can probably count on Jackson being some sort of bad guy.
