That nightmare was a movement test from Ridley Scott's 1979 sci-fi classic, and in the mask was 6'10" Bolaji Badejo, who played the alien xenomorph in all scenes that required the creature to move around like only a ridiculously tall, lithe guy can. For reference, here's the opposite of the above video:
