Here are the first set of campaign ads from The Campaign, an aptly-named comedy about the congressional runs of rival candidates played by Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis. As we maybe could have predicted from the talent involved, Ferrell's political character is basically a less squinty take on his George W. Bush, while Galifianakis seems to be giving us his sometimes-political alter-ego Seth Galifianakis as a slightly higher-functioning good ol' boy, and overall, the August release looks like it could provide some decent and timely laughs this election year. Or, if nothing else, it will give us something to gesture at with a thumb when, from the corner of our mouths, we mutter, "Not too far off from the real thing, y'know?", and then everyone knowingly half-chuckles and nods.
